Full sized folding bikes banish the wobble

Exciting news for all bicycle fans, multi-award winning manufacturer Pacific Cycles is opening a new European office, based in London, and will bring its range of superb, full-size folding bikes to the UK for the first time.
While there’s no doubt that some of the current folding bikes on the market share the Pacific range’s outstanding design quality, attention to detail, high-quality components and compact folded size; thanks to Integrated Folding Technology – invented and patented by British engineer Mark Sanders – Pacific have managed to achieve all of this with full-sized bikes, using full-sized wheels, to guarantee a ride without compromise.
iF Mode and iF Urban 700
Two of the star products from the new Pacific range are the iconic iF Mode and the iF Urban 700.
The iF mode is a clever city bike with an aluminium monocoque frame, aimed at commuters who want convenience, quality and ease-of-use but whom may have been put off by the small wheels and odd riding position of most folders. While the iF Urban 700 has a more conventional frame and is aimed at existing cycling enthusiasts - as well as new riders - who place a priority on top performance and the lightest and most highly developed wheels, gears and components but also need the convenience of a folding bike.
Despite being full sized bikes both the IF Mode and the iF Urban 700 can fold down to a very compact size thanks to the Integrated Folding technology created by British engineer Mark Sanders.
A patented hinge system with 3-dimensional 4-Bar linkage allows both the frame to fold and the head stock to pivot while also automatically guiding the wheels together during folding. All of which means the folding action takes just seconds and without requiring any tools or specialist skills.
Integrated folding technology also makes both bikes exceptionally rigid. The link bars are an integral part of the frame and are tensioned in riding mode to give tremendous strength and stiffness, thereby producing excellent handling and a typical full sized bike ride experience.
And there’s no need to carry the folded bike as part of the frame acts as an integral handle allowing both bikes to be rolled along on their wheels.
The iF Mode design also includes a single sided front strut and a single piece rear swing arm together with unique dedicated three-spoke 26” wheels which can be quickly removed to allow the bike to be easily stored or carried in a conventional suit case.
The unitary design also allows the iF Mode to avoid oily chains, hidden dirt traps and the clutter of traditional bicycle features. While as a further convenience, the iF Mode features a unique two speed enclosed transmission with gear selection by the push of a heel.
The iF Urban 700 has an exceptionally rigid aluminium frame, 8 speed Sturmey Archer hub transmission, front and rear disc brakes and 700C light weight wheels.
iF Mode and iF Urban 700 are priced at £ £1699 and ££1199 respectively and are now available to buy from:
